TLJ in No Country gives a master class in acting, IMHO. And, re 19, I didn’t like it when it came out, but the words hit home, especially when I worked out that my own father had been 19 when he was called up in 1941. Nothing changes.

I would agree except that when I was writing my book I spent a not-insignificant amount of time on the Gillette website figuring out what style of beard R Kelly has in the "Ignition" video. It's a minefield out there.

also i find the ‘i was really fucked up but overcame it’ books really weird as a year or so later there is another one by the same author- so what is the point? B Gordon a case in point. Seems like a decent & well meaning woman but i’m not convinced- also her husband must be an absolute saint

Last week I spent an enjoyable if slightly pointless time digitising some of my ancient vinyl collection. Things I’d forgotten about included Paul Hardcastle’s single “40 Years” released in 1988. Given current geopolitics, I too am not sure what I think about a song pondering whether the world will exist in [gulp] 2028.
