I don't think you should feel embarrassed for those columns. They were honest and heartfelt and there is nothing shameful about that, whatever the heterodox cynics might try to make us feel. We are human beings, we are allowed to have feelings ❤️
I guess it's always vulnerable to look back at yourself at the moment you're adapting to a new version of the world, and it's disconcerting to look at those raw feelings and see how close they are to the emotions that turned into depressing things like "the resistance". But also, you're right ❤️
I have also despaired at the direction Abortion Rights has taken. The main problem feminism has nowadays is the expectation some have that it’s meant to solve every problem. Is patriarchy not fearsome enough on its own?
The current "Feminism must be for everything and everyone" dictat is a fantastic way to make sure feminism doesn't accomplish anything, not to sound conspiracy-theoryish....
Another cracking post/article/column/whatthehelldowecallthese. I have little interest in Harry & Meghan, but the relentless intensity of clickhate that the Mail/Telegraph devotes to them puts me instinctively on their side.
I also read Klein’s piece in The NY Times and listened to his podcast episode discussing attention with Chris Hayes. A lot of Klein! But I like the way that he thinks.
The attention and energy consumption of Trump and co is exceptional. But they know this and I think it was Bannon who said something about swamping people with information (?) to effectively prevent people from thinking for themselves. It’s Trump Season 2 😬
Before he took office, I tried my hardest to think about Trump positively. But, on hearing his simplistic, hubristic nonsense on Monday burst my naive bubble! He’s still the vain, vengeful, self-centred oaf that he was first time around! The US can be a great place to visit but, by god, I’d hate to stay there!
